One of my very favorite places for design inspiration is film. Sometimes I find myself paying more attention to the sets than to the dialogue and then I am thankful for the ability to rewind – so I can check out the cool sets again! It is unusual for me to watch a movie over and over but I am pretty sure I have seen Down With Love about ten times.
The lighting in this movie is unbelievable. Everything from the pendant lights surounding the stairs to the recessed lighting on the patio is absolutely perfect. Can’t you just imagine how good you would look sitting on the couch wearing your favorite Lilly shift? Actually, you would look just as fabulous in jeans and a t-shirt with this lighting.
Neutral colors are a great way to give your rooms a soothing and sophisticated look. Adding varying textures, patterns, and sumptuous lighting creates an elegant and timeless feel. Personally, I am all about color but often wonder if I would calm down a bit if I switched over to the other side.
